The
most useful thing that I learned is how to use the online Penrose Library to
find resources. I think this is very important, because in the future’s classes
I can find anything I want online, it is useful and convenient. I think from
the online library can not only help me to find resources, but also can enrich my
knowledge.

Having a good eating habit
After
reading the two articles, I found some information for a question which is what
will we eat is good for our health? In Pollan’s article, he said some things
about this question. Maybe these suggestions are not suit you very well, but to
be honest his ideas about eating habits is healthier than most people’s eating
habits. He first said do not eat the things which the oldest people wouldn’t recognize
as food, because he thought some food come up in the recent years are not
health for people. I totally agree with Pollan, because some new “food” come up
this years have so much additives or trans-fatty acid. The food may look nice
and tasty, but the additives and trans-fatty acid are really bad for people
health. He also talked about do not eat so full when you have meal. For this l
would like to say my mum always telling me “Eat 80 percent full when you have
meal”. At last the author said “Eat like an omnivore”. I think this is the most
important suggestion in the article. By doing this you can have all the nutrition
you need and with some exercises you will have a good figure.
In
Dupuis’ article, he told people should eat fellow your heart which means eat
whatever you want. I will say I totally disagree with this author, because if
you eat just you like you cannot get enough nutrition from just one or two
kinds of food. When people eat something they do not like, they may feel
unhappy. But this is really good for your health. If you want to live a long
and a healthy life, Dupuis’ idea is not a good choice.

Some ideas for the Eater's Manifesto
For
now I always eat hamburgers pizzas and drink some soda. I choose to eat this
kind of junk food is because I have a lot of classes and homework to do. As an
international student, the language is the most difficult part for me, so under
the big pressure of the homework and lectures I do not have time to cook some
health meal by myself. I want to change the current eating habit, because it is
not healthy.
Interesting Points
Yuan's blog also talked about the the breakfast. In his blog I found an interesting point, he said eating breakfast is good for our mental health. The breakfast will help you feel less stress and less depressed. And another interesting point I found is in Deng's blog. In his blog he said the vegetarians eating habits will be more healther then the other eating habits. But in my opinion, the vegetarians are not that health, because we need a lot of nutrition from all kinds of food, but not just in the vegetables.

Skipping Breakfast
Last
week we recorded our four days’ meals and posted to our blogs. After I read
other people’s post I found a very interesting thing which is most classmates
in my class always choose to skip the breakfast. I think they just want to
sleep a little longer and do not want to get up so early. But I think breakfast
is the first meal of a day and it is a very important meal for beginning a new
day. In order to improve my thought, I did some research for “Skipping the
breakfast”.
In
my opinion, people skip the breakfast for two reasons. The first reason is if
you skip your breakfast you can sleep a little longer, by doing that you can
rest well and can have more attention during the class time. The second reason
is if you skip the breakfast you can lose some weight and keep a good figure.
But skipping the breakfast can really help you on these two things? The answer
is NO. From my research on a web site called WebMD-Better information Better
Health said that “Skipping breakfast is often a big no-no if you are trying
to lose or maintain weight because it leads to high-calorie cravings later (Skip Breakfast, Get Fat).” The
researchers which came from Imperial College London, found 20 healthy,
non-obese people to have a test. The test is to let these people not having
breakfast at first and then showed them photos of high- and low-calorie foods.
Then the researchers will observe how the brain’s reward center changes. And
they found “The brain's reward center lit up more vividly, or became more
active, when the person saw a high-calorie food as opposed to a low-calorie
choice (Skip Breakfast, Get Fat).”But
when these 20 people ate the breakfast the result is totally opposite. So we
can know that skip breakfast will not help you lose weight, instead you will
gain some weight easily.
For those people who think skip breakfast can save some
time to sleep longer and can help you pay more attention, I also found some
evidence to prove it wrong. From my research it said “Breakfast helps wake you up (Top
10 Reasons not to skip your breakfast)”. Studies show that “Eating breakfast helps
improve memory and positively affects the tasks that require the retention of
new information. Conversely, a hungry child can be apathetic, disinterested,
and irritable when confronted with difficult tasks. Breakfast is the key. No
doubt adults need breakfast as much as kids do (Top 10 Reasons not to skip your
breakfast)”. So it is show that skip breakfast cannot help you pay more
attention but will distract from your class.
All
in all, not matter what reasons you skip breakfast is not a good choice.
Actually even I always skip the breakfast, but after reading the articles which
I found on the internet will help me to get rid of the bad habit. So from now
have a good breakfast and get a better health.

Three days meal journal
People like to
drink soda and tea during their meal. In the journals which I read, people like
to eat noodles and hamburgers. Two of my friends have a disordered meal
schedules. In my perspective, they ate too much meat than vegetables.
